Mission

The Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society is the only organization dedicated exclusively to the interests of ophthalmic-driven ambulatory surgery centers and our patients. We focus on ensuring top-quality patient care and safety in an efficient and effective environment of ever-changing technologies and regulation. We advocate for the ophthalmic ASC industry before Congress and regulatory agencies in Washington, DC, to ensure that all ophthalmic services are eligible for Medicare facility reimbursement, that industry regulations are well-informed and effective, and that facility fees are reasonable and equitable. We collaborate with our members and industry partners to optimize the patient and physician experience, growth strategies, and business results. Ophthalmic-driven ASC physician-owners, administrators, clinic directors, and staff are welcome to join OOSS. The society is supported by industry partners with shared commitment to the advancement of O-ASCs.

OOSS has evolved over time, but the organization’s foundational pillars are firmed built in:

  • Advocacy – primarily in Washington, DC but also with other ophthalmic organizations (AAO, ASCRS) and ASCA.
  • Analytics – providing tools and data to support members’ clinical and business benchmarking
  • Education – virtual, on-demand and live events
  • Marketing/Communication – with members and industry partners
