August 31, 2026: OOSS SUBMITS COMMENTS ON CMS PROPOSED CY 2027 ASC PAYMENT RULE

OOSS, together with four leading ophthalmology organizations, submitted comments to CMS on the proposed CY 2027 Medicare ASC payment rule. The organizations urged CMS to eliminate the ASC weight scaler, make the Hospital Market Basket update permanent, and address payment policies that could reduce reimbursement and threaten access to ophthalmic surgery in the ASC setting. The comments also address access to retinal surgery, separate payment for non-opioid pain management and innovative ophthalmic drugs and devices, appropriate reimbursement for new technologies, and improvements to ASC quality reporting and prior authorization policies.
