Don’t take me literally, but how often do you get to take a free shot at a lawyer? You now have an ongoing opportunity to throw your questions my way, and I’ll do my best to give you the right answers, or at least point you in the right direction. Whatever your concerns may be coding, reimbursement policy, the new ASC legislation or payment regulation, a prospective joint venture, comanagement, certificate-of-need or Medicare certification, just to name a few send them my way. As We Enter The Final Turn…
AS WE ENTER THE FINAL TURN . . . .
Tired as analogies to sports may be, the ASC industry’s effort to secure a fair payment system that will ensure our survival well into this century can be fairly likened to a marathon. OOSS has strived towards this objective since I commenced my representation of our organization in 1983. At this moment, we stand on the precipice of payment reform. During the next several months, federal policymakers will decide just how much ophthalmic facilities are paid, how many services will be covered, how we will be regulated, and how capably we will be able to deliver high quality and lower cost care to the nation’s elderly. In this column, I would like to discuss where we are, where we need to go, and how we will get there. As will be apparent, you, our grassroots member, are critical to our crossing the finish line a winner. (more…)
Accreditation – What Matters Most!
There are four reasons to seek accreditation for your ASC or office-based surgery facility.
You want to see how your organization measures up to nationally recognized standards
You would like to experience a collaborative and consultative approach to learning what you may be able to improve.
