Beginning in 2007, OOSS set out to offer ophthalmic oriented ASCs a comprehensive approach to comparing their performance with other ophthalmic ASCs across the country. Sixty pioneering facilities contributed to the first benchmarking study based on their year-end 2006 practices and results. They, along with a roundtable of benchmarking experts and an ever-increasing base of participating facilities, helped shape the evolving survey culminating this past year with the involvement of 194 facilities. The OOSS Benchmarking Initiative is now poised to become the OOSSMark Program, predicated on the now highly accepted and refined survey and reporting process augmented by introduction of a new OOSSMark Blog and a members-only OOSSMark Exchange. The OOSSMark Blog will be open to the public and will feature topics suggested by participants in the annual OOSSMark Survey and members of the OOSSMark Roundtable. The OOSSMark Exchange, to be introduced in late in 2012 will be accessible to OOSS members only, providing a forum for OOSSMark participants to exchange benchmarking ideas, tools and resources. The OOSSMark Program will also be featured in roundtable forums, courses, workshops and presentations at annual ASCRS/ASOA and AAO/AAOE meetings.
The OOSSMark Program, based on annual OOSS Benchmarking Survey results is designed exclusively for the ophthalmic oriented single and multispecialty ASC. The 2012 survey capturing 2011 practices and performance measures opens June 1st through December 31, 2012. First Release Reports for Early Bird participate, completing the survey by August 31st, are scheduled for delivery in Novermber. Final Release Reports will be delivered in early February of 2013.
