As the 2016 election season gets underway, OOSS and OOSPAC will be working closely with the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association to assist OOSS members who may be interested in hosting open houses and receptions for their elected officials. OOSS and the ASCA also are developing an “Advocacy Tool Kit” with helpful information and strategies for hosting legislative open houses and other events to inform policy makers and public officials about the role and efficacy of the ambulatory surgery setting.
On Dec. 11, OOSS and OOSPAC joined the ASCA to co-host for a reception for U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Fl., chairman of the Human Resources Subcommittee of the Ways and Means Committee, at the Gulf Coast Endoscopy and Surgery Center in Venice, FL.
Other recent events hosted by the ASCA and co-hosted by OOSS and OOSPAC include November receptions for U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján, D-N.M., and for U.S. Sen. Ronald Lee “Ron” Wyden, D-Ore. In August, the Chu Vision Institute in Bloomington, M.N., hosted an open house for numerous local officials and leaders to celebrate National ASC Day. OOSS President Ralph Chu and his wife, Jodi, will share their insights and advice in an upcoming post.
